The Timeless Beauty of Proportions

Project Description

This exhibition explores the question “What is beauty?” through the lens of proportion. Inspired by Umberto Eco’s History of Beauty, our team identified proportion as a unifying foundation across various disciplines — architecture, sculpture, fashion, and cuisine.

As the exhibition focuses on fashion, we featured the works of Italian designer Valentino, renowned for his mastery of proportion. The display is divided into three phases — early, mid, and late — allowing visitors to trace evolving ideals of proportion over time, alongside historical references from other arts.

The exhibition path is structured using a Fibonacci sequence-based grid (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13), creating a curved circulation that fluidly opens and encloses the visitor’s view. This enhances spatial experience while guiding movement naturally through the space.
